Futureverse - We dance on the stage, we die in the shadows

Title: We dance on the stage, we die in the shadows
Rating: pg-15; just for safety sake
Characters: General Allen Walker, General Rabi, Bookman, Liitle Rabi(flash back), Little Yuu(flash back)
Disclaimer: I don't own D.grayman I just fiddle with it in text.
Warnings: Violence, past trauma, blood, death, rage, berserker, pain, angst, and unbetaed
Word count: 511
Note: Futureverse; written before Rabi's past was more revealed in the manga. Thus this is as it always was an au.
Summary: General Rabi recounts that botched mission that he has carried the guilt of for years.

It had been a mess. They had been over run so fast. Rabi remembered it. He had hated being a bookman in that moment. The carnage was all there, he just had to think about it and it was lying before him. He recalled the screaming of his fellows. They were just children, barely trained and too brave. He remembered the smell of burnt flesh that rose into the air. Those charred bodies of the kids who had begged for mercy kills in their bubbling and gurgling voices full of agony. The fire snake had put them to sleep.

Too many died. He had their blood on his small hands that day, and the rebound when he couldn’t fight anymore took his eye. Rabi had always felt that had been punishment for killing his comrades. He’d found Marlow bleeding his life away when he couldn’t call forth the power of his innocence anymore. He almost had drawn the knife Winters had given each and every one of them. As a bookman’s apprentice he had to be impartial and distant.

As a child, he remembered the mercy kills he’d given his birth family. They had been hit by the Akuma and the stars were appearing. He had somehow known he couldn’t save them. The fire had taken them all.

He didn’t know why he suddenly didn’t want to kill anymore. He just knew the tears trickling from his good eye wouldn’t stop as he used the tattered remains of his coat to try and stop the bleeding. The boy tossed the knife aside as he forced his innocence to invoke and heat enough to try and cauterize the wound. Not even a spark of power, but he still pressed his blood covered hands to the wounds and pleaded to a god he didn’t believe in.

He was sick of the death and destruction. The nightmare needed to end.

The redhead had tried not to be sick as the blood poured forth as steadily as ever. He’d barely heard Kanda show up and kill the Akuma that had been about to kill him and the one he was trying to save. He couldn’t find it in him to care. Rabi had just looked hopelessly at his friend and shook like a leaf. Exhaustion was taking its toll on him. He couldn’t fight or move anymore.

The boy probably would have welcomed death with open arms if it had come that day.

Bookman had stared at him as he trembled and sobbed out of pain. He’d been such a mess, covered in gore and dirt. He remembered what it felt like to be carried by those old arms and to hide his face in that coat covered chest.

The medward was a nightmare of its own. He’d never forget it either. The broken ones screamed and screamed. He knew he had been screaming too. Rabi had slipped into the rooms of those they were going to let waste away because they couldn’t be saved. Like Mari had done, he dealt death swiftly yet silently without raising alarm. He was to be the next bookman; human lives were just text in the pages of history.

He kept telling himself this as he slipped into the rooms of the screamers who needed to be put down out of mercy.

Bookman had caught him one night. It was that very reason he took him away. The old man couldn’t bear to see the order turn his student into a killer of his fellow humans. The excuse was to let him get over things and recover. He remembered the horror in those old eyes when he caught him sitting on a hospital bed by one of those beyond saving. He had been gripping the mask in his bandaged hands and breathing into it with deadly calm.

The lone visible eye had been frosted with the beginning of the same chill that Kanda would later wear everyday of his life.

Bookman stared at his student who just curled deeper in slumber after he’d finished sleep talking. He took a heavy drag on the cigarette he’d lit and let the smoke flow out. He barely paid attention to Allen rushing off to go be sick. The old exorcist was relieved that he’d made the right decision to take the boy from headquarters after that. He did feel guilty that he’d had the child bottle it all up. But he was a strong lad; he’d pick himself back up once he’d dealt with it.

Walker was around as was Kanda. Perhaps together they could mend each other. He never was gladder that Rabi was far less detached than he wanted to be till now. Now that the main breakdown had happened and the boy had fallen to pieces, he could slowly recover. If he was better in the morning, letting him see and stay with Yuu might not be a bad idea. He knew Allen wasn’t going to abandon either of his friends. The General was probably going to sleep curled up in a chair by Kanda’s bed tonight. He could handle Rabi. He’d done so for years.

Fic-Futureverse- Confrontations and Master vs student

Title: Confrontations and Master vs student
Genre: General
Rating: Pg-15; safety net yo!
Fandom: D. Gray Man
Character(s)/Pairing(s): None; Allen, Kanda, Rabi, Cross, Komui
Disclaimer: I do not own D.grayman just fiddle around it in text.
Warnings: Implied suicide attempt, conditioning, trigger words to make someone do as you wish, implied making little boys kill things, upset and bitch flipping general, murder vibes, and arguments
Note: Futureverse

Allen stared at the words and tried not to rip the paper to shreds. A slow ripple ran up his arm that was reattached and the wash of white energy birthed the claws on the arm as he invoked without thinking about it. "That son of a bitch." He breathed as he reread the words carefully. "That son of a BITCH!" The wall by the general was indented, as his fist smashed into it and the white light spiraled about his invoked arm.

He flicked his eyes up to Komui, the cursed eye burning behind the lens in front of it. The iris was narrowed and catlike as the lens it's self adjusted. "Where is he? Where is the fucker who wrote this?!”

Rabi reached out and set a hand on the recovering General's shoulder. "Calm down, it's not Komui's fault. Drop your invocation before you really do some damage." Allen growled and thrust the letter into Rabi's hands. Then turned away from them to try and calm down.

"Sorry. Komui…what do you know of this? Last I checked, I didn't think Kanda was that dead eyed nor suicidal." He noted the look that passed across Rabi's face for a second before the other handed the paper to Theodore.

"But by all means, tell us where fuck face is so I can see how many blows it takes to bust his head." The Bookman gritted out with difficulty as he tried not to flip like Allen just had. He watched the white haired General limp over to Kanda before feeling fresh vibes of murder as Cross was handed the paper. The older general's scowl sent a shiver of fear down his spine.

"It seems I've taken too long to find him. Though this does answer several questions, if it's what I think it is. I do believe an accident is in order."

Theodore only nodded in agreement as he took a seat. Walker glanced at them before shutting his eyes tears beading at the corners. "Master…Komui which ever of you knows how get him out of this. He's…he looks like a doll. And for fucks sake get me the first aid kit."

Komui had been trying to be part of the scenery since Allen gave him that look. It was not a nice expression to see. He had to wonder if the white haired general was secretly a child of Cross Marian. The very thought was frightening and somewhat true. Just in the fact that Cross had raised him, which was frightening enough now that he was standing here thinking about it. He mentally thanked Reever for handing the youngest of the four Generals in the room the first aid kit. The head officer strode over to his desk and sat behind it quietly in the stillness. "Little Yuu, sit still and let Allen tend your wounds." He spoke the words sadly, his heart clenching when the other obeyed.

The older Li caught the look on Allen's face and sighed as he covered his eyes with a hand. "Every mission he comes back half dead from the Admiral has had contact during, or before. Finders have mentioned that phrasing before, some drafted orders for Kanda have included it. I'm only sorry I didn't see it till now." He pretended to not hear the bit back sob from the cursed exorcist. They had come very, very close to losing Kanda. He had to imagine that scared the hell out of Allen.

Rabi was able to hold himself together better. Not by much, but he was doing loads better than the cursed man. The redhead was holding himself together, but his emotions were so mixed you could see it on his face. He had to wonder if bringing Kanda out of it now would be too cruel. Komui sipped his coffee and considered it. Cross was being frighteningly calm, despite the wave of rage and murder that drifted and writhed like a specter about the man.

Allen was trying not to cry as he cleaned the swordsman's cuts. He could guess why. Kanda seemed to be someone he'd vowed to protect and cared deeply about. He only knew of one other the cursed one had been as loyal too. Mana Walker. Theodore was silently observing the rest of them while lost in thought. The fact the older generals both bore the same expression was enough to make him want to bolt or scream in terror. He was at lost which would give him more time to flee.

Theodore and Cross rarely agreed on something, their natures were as different as night and day. He glanced up as Allen looked at him wordlessly. "Release it, Komui please."

Why, oh why, does he still have the power to look so innocent still as an adult? The head officer had to wonder if it was the fact he'd seen Allen grow some, that he gave in instead of leaving Yuu to wonder about a gap in his memory. "The snow seems lovely this time of year Kanda." He watched the dull eyes burn with life again before their owner blinked as if coming out of a dream.

The swordsman let out a noise of surprise as Allen suddenly hugged him. He looked at everyone else's expressions and wondered how he went from the room he'd been in to this one without knowing it. Why the fuck is Walker acting like he thought he'd never see me again? And what the hell is wrong with rest of them? “Why are you all looking at me like that?” He really didn’t like the look in their eyes.

Rabi walked over and sat on the edge of Komui’s desk. “What is that? What the hell did that bastard do to Yuu?” The swordsman twitched at the words and about defended who he knew they were talking about.

“What is the last thing you remember before you woke up here?”

He blinked and looked directly into the sole visible eye of Cross Marian. “Opening a letter from the Admiral,” Kanda leaned back a bit trying not to seem like he felt intimidated by the General. No one in the room blamed him; most of Headquarters feared this man.

Marian took a slow drag on his cigarette and breathed out before he spoke again. “Nothing in between?”

“No General.” He watched the other as his lips pressed into a thin line of displeasure. He turned about for a second to breathe out more smoke before he spoke. “Conditioning and trigger words…it’s been a while since I’ve seen this.” Komui looked up silently, his face going from thoughtful to serious. He’d heard rumors of such tactics to think they were being used… It was another reason to keep the Admiral from contacting Kanda at all. The older redhead tapped the ash off the end of his cigarette. “Little Yuu, you’ll recall all the gaps in your memory through dreams. This will be the last time you let these trigger words affect you. Once I say the shut down trigger, you will never react like this to those words.”

The swordsman stared blankly at Cross clearly waiting the final order. Allen let out a growl from where he was still hugging Kanda. “Master you warn people before you do that.” Rabi silently agreed and the look Theodore gave said the same thing.

The red haired general shook his head a little. “Better to get it done swiftly there’s no telling what other words have been given to him. What if one of you accidentally said one of them? Fools, use your heads. The snow seems lovely this time of year, Kanda.” The white haired exorcist grumbled softly as he watched Yuu come back to himself.

He let go of the other to face his master with narrowed eyes. “I don’t care it's best to be done quickly! You should have warned him! He’s got another gap because of you!”

Rabi blinked at Allen, wondering why he was proverbially spitting in the face of Satan.

Komui wondered if he could crawl under his desk and they wouldn’t notice.

Kanda was lost, but also wondering if Walker had finally gone off the deep end. Then again anyone would, you didn’t yell at the tall general who was looking at his student with narrowed eyes.

“And here I thought I’d taught you not to talk back.” Cross stated levelly as he grabbed the other by the shirt collar and slammed him against the wall.

The bookman winced as the cursed one snarled furiously.

“It’s always the same with you master! You are the most inconsiderate-“

Stab. He let out a yelp at the cigarette stubbed out on the side of his neck.

“Use your head, boy. This might be one of many sets of code words. We don’t know. Getting these out of the way when the other doesn’t know it could buy us time to find and deactivate the rest. Quit acting with your heart and think with your head!”

Allen gritted his teeth and the older general gripped the edges of his coat and tossed him back to the floor. “You’re a general now. Those soft hearted ways of yours will not save lives. You know we have to make the life or death decisions. If you can’t handle that, then step down you’ll have had no business accepting the role you have taken.”

The cursed general didn’t reply just stared at the floor.

Rabi sighed softly, that sounded too much like Bookman’s speeches at times.

The swordsman whirled in confusion as Cross left the room, his aura lashing with anger as he left. Yuu was surprised the other was still breathing.
Title: Betrayal from within
Genre: General
Rating: Pg-15; safety net yo!
Fandom: D. Gray Man
Character(s)/Pairing(s): None; Allen, Komui, Miranda, Rinali, Rabi, Kanda
Disclaimer: I do not own D.grayman just fiddle around it in text.
Warnings: Near death's door General, betrayal, blood oh so much of it, and freaked out swordsman.
Note: Futureverse

This just couldn’t be happening. They had been set up. Someone within the Order had betrayed him and his team. Allen swallowed as he stared at the hordes of Akuma and five Noah standing like Generals in their own right. He had to make a judgment call right here and now. “Exorcists! Retreat! I’ll hold them here!” Sorry Rabi, I’ll be a bit late coming home.

Komui Li stared at the report in his hands and shut his eyes silently. “Squad leader? Get me Miranda Lotte.” He couldn’t tell Rabi, not yet, he’d let the other take care of Kanda till this was either confirmed or denied.

He could tell she was nervous and he smiled politely in hopes it would set her at ease. “Miranda what was his last orders?”

She swallowed quietly and gripped the fabric of her pants before she answered him. “He ordered us to go and said he’d hold them off.”

Komui nodded as he jotted it down and took a sip of his coffee. “Anything before that?”

The exorcist shook her head quietly. “No sir, nothing, he just looked shocked about the number of Akuma and Noah.”

The science officer dropped his mug and it shattered on the floor startling them both. “Number of Noah?”

Ms. Lotte laced her fingers together as she stared at the floor. “Yes, there was five of them.”

The older Li stared at her before he looked at the report again. How the hell did they know we were going to be there? “Thank you Miranda this helps considerably.”

The woman rose to her feet and nodded quietly before she started for the door. Miranda paused at the door frame and looked back at him. “Komui do you think he survived?” She hoped so, he was the first friend she’d ever made. He had believed in her when others hadn’t, he and Rinali.

The look on the head of the science department’s face at her question, gave her no hope. “I don’t know. Against one Noah, I’d say he’ll be coming back, but five and a horde of Akuma? I’m not saying don’t have any hope, I just don’t know if he’ll make it.”

Rabi sighed as he sat and read a book while sitting in the chair by Kanda’s bedside. He felt like something was wrong, but what he couldn’t put his finger on it. The bookman could have sworn he had heard Allen, but he was away on a mission. He shifted and felt Kanda glaring at him as he rubbed his temples.

“Quit fidgeting.” He hissed harshly and the General rolled his eyes. “How would you know? You can’t see.”

“I can hear you dumbass. You’ve been making too much noise for the past few hours.”

The redhead shook his head a little and had been about to answer when there was a rap on the door. He got up to answer it and got tackled practically by an upset Rinali.

She buried her face in his chest and shook with sorrow, which puzzled the hell out of the bookman. “Rinali? What’s the matter?”

She didn’t answer him, just sobbed silently into his coat.

Yuu sat up with a scowl, but Rabi spotted a hint of concern in his expression. “What the hell happened?”

“He’s…he’s…” The redhead raised an eyebrow and glanced at Kanda before he drew the female exorcist out of the room and out of ear shot. “Hey what’s the matter?”

She forced herself to stop crying long enough to try and tell him. “It’s Allen! Rabi he’s…”

They were leaving him unattended. Kanda blinked at this and slipped out of bed. He wasn’t about to waste this opportunity. The swordsman slipped out and made his way down the hallway at a slow walk. Fuck them. Rabi could deal with Rinali, he didn’t need the attachment they kept shoving in his face. As Yuu was sneaking off, he bumped into someone suddenly and a hand gripped his shoulder before he could escape.

Kanda cursed and blinked at the scent that was thick in the air. Blood and not just a little, the hall reeked of it. He caught the sound of heavy breathing from whoever was, before he was turned right back around. Who?

“Don’t even fucking dare.” The other hissed and he couldn’t tell who was speaking because of the wet sound to the voice. “Who the hell are you?”

“Don’t push me… right now. I’m not in the… mood and I will break… your arm if it gets you… back to bed.” Yuu’s eyebrows rose as he heard the other cough and for once didn’t protest being escorted back to his room. The smell didn’t go away and as he sat on the edge of his bed, he was sure the other damaged. He heard the stranger collapse into the chair and frowned as he rubbed the bandages over his eyes. Komui had said he could take them off today; he just hadn’t hauled his ass over here to remove them. Well he wasn’t waiting. It took a moment to rip them off and cover his eyes so they could adjust. After a few moments, he dared a look at the chair.

It was Allen and he looked like he was held together by just his will alone. There was a wide trail of blood leading from the chair to the door and his clothes were soaked in it. His exorcist coat was in tatters and his body was ripped up. Kanda had no idea how he was staying conscious. “What the hell happened to you?”

The general laughed and blood trickled down his chin. “Trap… we were set up… they knew we were coming… we have a traitor in the Order. Ordered the others to clear out…held them off myself…fuck I’m tired.”

Yuu stared at the exorcist and tried to think of ,i>what</i> to say. A traitor within the Order…it was unheard of. He almost asked what it was Allen held off, but the other coughed and laughed tiredly before he went on. How he was he still conscious?

“Five of them…the Noah… and all those…akuma…that was the hardest I’ve ever had to push myself…if I pass out don’t you dare… move from this room. I’ll haul my broken ass… from this chair and find you…”

Kanda for once didn’t reply. He just stared at the white haired man and expected him to croak right then and there. No one could bleed as much as he was and survive.

Allen just sat there and smiled quietly in that way that irked the swordsman.

“What?”

The other just chuckled in reply. “Nothing…just trying not to pass out over here.” He seemed to be expecting something with the way he sat there and didn’t move.

It made Kanda uncomfortable. “Shouldn’t you be in the medward?”

Well the joke was on him, Walker was sitting there and trying to stay awake because moving or sleeping would be a serious mistake. “Yeah, but I knew you would be… trying to escape again. You really think I’d sit there… getting patched up while you would have the chance… to slip off and be a dumbass?”

He just stared at the general for a few moments. This was not making sense to him. If you get the shit beat out of you, you went to the medward, plain and simple. Allen had bypassed going because of him? Why the hell for? “You’re bleeding.” He finally stated and it sounded like a stupid observation even to him.

“Yep, all the blood on me is mine, goes with the arm.” That had to be a joke. A lame attempt at one, but a joke none the less. He was yet to learn how morbid Allen could be when it came to his own injuries.

“You better clean all that up.” He growled and the general laughed before going into a coughing fit.

“If I could move… I would.”

What did he mean by that? Kanda peered closer at the other and frowned heavily. “You wasted the last of your strength to get me back to bed didn’t you? Idiot.” He eyed the other and watched him for a moment.

Allen raised a bloodied eyebrow. “I’m only going to pass out when Rabi gets back, not before.”

Yuu’s frown grew deeper till it became a scowl. “If you die, I’m kicking your corpse.”

“I told you that once. Maybe I’m rubbing off on you.”

Kanda made a disgusted noise and threw the other a nasty glare. “Don’t even joke.”

Allen just laughed and they sat in silence till Rabi got back.

“Holy shit! Allen, why the hell aren’t you in the medward?!”

The swordsman snorted and watched Rabi about crack his skull on the slippery floor. “That’s what I asked him.”

The bookman eyed the pair of them and raised an eyebrow at the fact neither was snarking at the other. It was creepy, how they both gave him the same almost relaxed look. “Who fed the two of you drugs?”

The double glares were familiar and he finally looked at the floor. Shit. “Allen, you’re going to the medward right now.”

The general looked at him and grinned like a fool. “I lost all feeling in my legs.”

Holy hell I actually am going to do this.

Okay the following links are to works of fiction. Meaning not real people and its literay works.

To follow that statement here's another to cover my ass.

I do not own any of the following series being written for. I am not profiting from this at all. This is strictly for entertainment. Now then.

D.Grayman

Streetsigns (Spoilers for manga chapters 55 on)
Pairing:Rabi/Allen.
Summary: Rabi starts to realise he has more than friend feelings for Allen. Slowly bit by bit he draws ever closer to the boy and Allen comes to understand his own feelings. He doesn't understand why he can't cry. Don't say I told you so.

Part three: Allen has come back very much alive and Rabi sees the differences as he treads ever closer to the boy. But Allen has other ideas about how close Rabi has come to him. Wheels and circles.

Part four: Rabi chases after the confused Allen and reaches out to him again. The line of no return might be crossed. The invisible line

Part five: Allen struggles to deal with Rabi's admittance of attraction while trying to remian as distant and far away from the world as always. Rabi isn't allowing it. Within Winter Fields

Part six: Rabi backs off and observes a paraniod Allen. There was still time

Part seven: Rabi reflects on being a Bookman and struggles with it. Growing Temptation

Part eight: Subconsciously, Allen and Rabi reach out to each other, narrowing the distance between them. Spring is coming

Part nine: Rabi's cold and Allen's warm. He tries to coax a distrusting and wary Allen closer. No means no

Part ten: Kanda wonders if Rabi is nuts when the other wakes Allen up from a nap. If you can handle my insanity go right ahead and comment. Some things like crack I might leave up for general public viewing, but that's it.
